"Be melting snow.
Wash yourself of yourself.
A white flower grows in the quiteness.
Let your tounge become that flower." Mevlâna Jalâluddîn Rumi Be melting snow. (1207-1273) [16:23]

what love
printable version written :: Spring 2005 desc :: Ok... this song is a bit of a downer. It's about what it's like to have had love, but not currently be anywhere near it. There is so much subtlety wrapped up in here. I challenge you to discover its secrets. I hope you can take something from it. Ray said of this song, "that is the best song I think you will be able to write" (he only heard the melody.) Currently, it may be true. [64:6:23]
Love is just a road sign again.
Swedish the language it's written in.
Now I have to call on a friend,
just to know how far away I am.
A poem in espanol sings this;
describing love in all its bliss.
I have to call upon a friend
to let me know what it is I miss.
BRIDGE
Kissing you is an unwanted reminder
of how far I am from love, and how much I'd like to find her.
Those who find themselves without, I think will concur...
best if you never had, or at least you can't remember.
CHORUS
what love?
what love?
what love?
Take a shot for old time's sake,
the lips mistake may bring my heart awake.
We can sing, yet we reel with choice.
We must rejoice with a human voice.
CHORUS
Lips of ivory will rewrite history
but Gray men steal, a portait of mystery.
Of golden words, what comes to life?
Feels alright, but the truth cuts like a knife.
