The ballad of Ubermensch & Angst-boy
printable version written :: 2005 desc :: finally a real reason to zeal. [77:6:23]
It was the time of cowboys and dinosaurs,
Pop philosophy and Nietzchean metaphors,
When all you needed was the wave of your hand,
For men to follow to the Promised Land.
They entered this world a strange man and boy,
With nothing but presumption for them to destroy,
They had six-gun paperbacks on their hips
And nothing but blasphemy dropped from their lips.
CHORUS
They were word slingin’ bastards with no remorse,
They would break the world with lingual force.
Speaking up and making their own code,
It was Ubermensch and Angst-boy on the road.
Hegel and Descartes could make no fuss
Facing an irrational blunderbuss,
A history of lies, bare for all to see
Its epistemological absurdity.
They would ride into town on hurricanes
Bolts of lighting into unthinking brains.
In their wake was enlightenment and occational suicide,
From the manacles of choice no one can hide.
CHORUS
When at last their ride came to an end
The powers that be gave the message a bend
They grappled for power, wanted it bad.
Control through ideology is what they had.
They sent out a posse of ill repute
Doctors and spinners who might dispute
the meaning of what our hero’s had said
About a week of lies and thought was dead.
SPOKEN
Now don’t you worry about these heros of old,
‘cuz this here’s proof that their story’s still told.
Some people think that lies still win,
But I think their message is mighty thin.
***
A storm’s a brewin’ out of the west
And soon assumptions will see their test
Cuz you can’t hold back the thinker’s might
And new thinkers are born every night.
***
So raise a frothy glass in fear and joy
Soon returns Ubermensch and Angst-boy!
CHORUS (2x)
Speaking up and making their own code,
It was Ubermensch and Angst-boy on the road.
